Montrose is situated beside a large tidal basin. This attracts many different varieties of birds throughout the year. A Wildlife Centre has been built overlooking the Basin. The Centre gives the opportunity to observe birds close up through strong binoculars, telescopes and remote TV cameras. Expert help is on hand to point things out and give advice. The centre also has video shows of the bird life, microscopes to study things up close, various displays and all sorts of games and puzzles. The children were also given the opportunity to go out on to the mud at low tide and search for the sort of creatures that feed the birds so well on the Basin. Digging in the mud proved very popular! |
