| Our artist in residence, Mhari
Nicoll, getting the project started by introducing a variety of common and not so common fruits. |
Time to taste some of the fruit for ourselves. |

| Getting our fingers warmed up before we started drawing. | Each group was given a different
fruit to observe and sketch. The drawing was then engraved on to a Quick Print sheet. |

| These sheets were then rolled with paint. | The print was then revealed. |

| Here are our prints set out to dry. | Meanwhile string prints were being made. |

| Fruit words were being printed with sponge letters. | Another backing paper was made with wax resist paintings. |
|
Day Two |
|

![]() |
| We made a viewfinder out of a
piece of card. It was triangular in shape. |
The viewfinder was placed over the fruit print we had made. |

![]() |
| We looked through the viewfinder and enlarged what we could see on to our tile. | The enlarged drawing was now painted. |

![]() |
| Some very interesting shapes and designs appeared. | We now took some of the string
and mono prints we had made and cut them into strips. Using two colours we filled in the other half of the tile. |

| Our fruit print from the previous day was cut out and glued on top of the strips. | The masking tape was removed from
the middle of the tile. We finished our small tiles by writing our names along the middle. |

Here are some of our tiles waiting to be varnished. |
| Day Three | |
![]() |
On day three we started work on a
larger tile. This one was split into four sections and we worked on these tiles in pairs. Again we enlarged a piece of our fruit print. |

| Now it was time to add our signature to our work. | We made a handprint and then cut it out. |

Putting the finishing
touches to our large files.
|
| Displaying the tiles around the hall. |
