The BIG BANG!

The day begins at Friockheim School.
Rehearsals begin - we practise the first and last songs
which we will all perform together.
We are then split into our three groups
and our leader takes us to rehearse our own songs.

After lunch it is time to try out the costumes.
Each group represents a different type of
energy resource.
Here are the fossil fuels - ready to Dig and Drill!

Then the show will begin....

Ghia's Natural resource group rely on Wind, Solar and Water Power.

Here the Atomic Power group get ready for action.

Professor Einstein and Lord Kelvin argue
as to which is the better source of power - atomic or fossil..

"We love fission, fission chips,
Smash it into little bits
Take an atom, give it a batterin'
and hope that atom splits.
When we smash those nuclei,
Chain reactions multiply,
What's more attractive: it's radioactive,
We'll light up the whole sky."

"The sun has all the answers, the rain and wind and waves,
No smoke, no soot, no CO2, a planet clean and safe.

Big solar panels on the roof will catch the sun,
And great huge windmills in the hills will catch the wind.
And those big waves will give us energy at sea,
And all our rain for hydro-electricity."

"What happens when all the forests are chopped down?
What happens when all the coal and oil are burned?
What will we do then?
We don't want our world to end,
We must find a plan before it all gets out of hand.
If we don't find a way you see to generate safe energy,
Then we will all go up in smoke, it's not a laugh, it's not a joke."

"All is not lost, there's lots that we can do,
And everyone can make a difference too.
Things don't really have to be this way,
There's still some time for us to save the day.
'Cos we've got a planet to protect you see,
And that's a big responsibility,
Now it's time to tell the world what they need to know,
And the lessons that we've learned from
The Big Bang Show!"
