Class 7 -  Sensation Visit

Class 7 visited Sensation -
The Live Science Centre

in Dundee

During their visit they were to learn about some jobs which involve science and technology.

At the first stop they were shown a film which explained   how Forensic Science is used by the police to help identify suspects and victims of crime.

They were told about DNA - DNA is found inside every living thing. It is the recipe for life. DNA contains all the instructions (like a recipe) on how to build and create you. Everybody's DNA is different - like your fingerprints.

Scientists can use DNA to help them solve problems. The pupils of class 7 were given the chance to try and solve some crimes for themselves by studying the DNA samples.

The task was to find where some polluted water had been detected.

The samples were brought in and the children tested each one and matched it up on their charts. dundee06.jpg (19040 bytes)
